The Lakewood Water District’s Wholesale Transmission Main is designed to assist other water purveyors with water supply in the region. Lakewood Water District has been given approval to construct a 20-inch diameter ductile iron water main from its service area east to Summit Water & Supply’s service area. The route falls within Parkland Light and Water’s service area. Anticipated Project Impacts to Property Owners along the Route
In general, the project will be similar to other utility installation projects and affect local traffic flow with some lane restrictions. Temporary paving patches will be placed until permanent pavement is restored. Night work is anticipated at the intersections of 112th Street South and South Tacoma Way, 112th Street South and Steele Street, and 117th Street South and Pacific Avenue South.
The first activity you will see near your home or business should be public utility locate personnel marking their underground utility lines for our contractor. Next, you should see the project surveyor setting wood stakes in the ground that establish alignment and grade of the Wholesale Transmission Main.
Before pipeline construction begins near your home or business you should see the construction progressing toward you from down the street. Additionally, as needed, contractor personnel will be contacting you at your door a day or two ahead of construction to discuss access, parking, schedule, and any other concerns you have. We ask for your cooperation with the contractor’s activities and apologize for any inconveniences during construction.
Care will be needed when driving or walking in the construction area. You will experience some noise from construction equipment. Currently, normal work hours are expected to be from 7 AM to 4 PM. with night work in the major intersections of South Tacoma Way, Steele Street, and Pacific Avenue/State Highway #7.
The construction should not affect utility services to your home or business except in special cases for a few property owners along the pipeline route. The contractor may request that parked vehicles be temporarily relocated when in conflict with construction. Mail delivery should not be interrupted except for the possibility of the very day the contractor is working in front of your property.
The construction should take about two to three weeks near your home or business from the beginning of construction to site restoration. Initial restoration, including backfill of the trench, grading, and temporary pavement, will occur by the end of each day. Final restoration of sidewalks and permanent pavement may take a little longer. If there are any questions or issues pertaining to this project, please call from the numbers listed below. Again, thank you for your cooperation.
